A few things you should know about mesothelioma cancer

Most people know what cancer is, but may be unaware of its various types. Mesothelioma cancer is the most aggressive form of cancer that starts developing in the linings of lungs, abdomen, or heart. There is no known cure for this cancer, but treatments are carried out to reduce the effects of mesothelioma.

What is mesothelioma cancer?
It is a common form of cancer that usually affects the lungs. Mesothelioma cancer is the most life-threatening disease as the life expectancy of patients with this disease is poor. There are several treatments like surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy that aim to reduce its effects, but the results might vary from person to person.

Mesothelioma develops in the inner linings of tissues that cover body organs, especially the lungs and chest wall. When you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, restlessness, weight loss or a swollen abdomen, there are chances that mesothelioma cancer has targeted you. There are four types of mesothelioma on the basis of location:

  • Pleural
  • Pericardial
  • Peritoneal
  • Testicular

What are the causes of mesothelioma cancer?

  • The main reason behind mesothelioma cancer is exposure to asbestos, a set of six silicate minerals. More people were exposed to asbestos in America after World War II, and hence asbestos dust exposure led to an increased number of cases of mesothelioma amongst navy men, Marine Corps and also coast guards. According to a recent study, people working with asbestos are more prone to mesothelioma. Therefore, relevant authorities have set a limit for exposure to asbestos so that people working with them are less prone to cancer.
  • In some cases, it is also associated with chest irradiation, thorotrast, inhalation of harmful fibrous silicates like erionite or talc.

Cancer in any form is the most dreaded disease as the chances of people surviving it is very less. Precautions should always be taken, and if any symptom is apparent, then immediate medical surveillance is required.

  • All you need to know about Samsung’s latest flagship—the Galaxy S10 series
Released in March 2019, the new Samsung Galaxy S series promises the next generation of mobile innovation. The phones that are a part of the flagship include Samsung Galaxy S10, S10e, S10 5G , and S10+. They have a re-engineered dynamic display and a pro-grade camera. Additionally, excellent performance has been optimized fully for today’s mobile users. According to Samsung, the new Galaxy S series is the outcome of 10 years of mobile innovation.

Samsung has always been a pioneer of mobile technology, making it number one. The Galaxy S series was the first to use the now omnipresent Android OS. Powered by a brilliant GPU, Galaxy S changed the way mobile phone displays looked. The original S series was packed with cutting-edge technology.

Over the years, Samsung has continued to push the limits of smartphone technology including the latest Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+. The recent lineup of phones include features from the best of the previous Galaxy phones and new advanced ones, such as a dynamic AMOLED display and a large notch-free screen. Moreover, the phones have an in-display camera with an ultra-wide lens.

Read on to know more about the best features, design, and pricing of Samsung S10, S10e, S10 5G, and S10+.

    Design
All the four phones in the new Galaxy series stand out with their futuristic design. Each of the phones has Samsung’s signature Infinity display with no bezel and curved sides, which gives it an immersive viewing experience. Moreover, the screens of the phones are powered by dynamic AMOLED technology with dynamic tone mapping for a wide range of colors. Additionally, there is a reduction in blue light. This makes it easier to watch videos, read, or play even in the dark without straining the eyes.

The notch from the top of the screen has been done away with; instead, there is a hole punch on the top right side that has a single front camera. In the S10+ and S10 5G, the hole punch is wider as it has dual front cameras.

A major difference in the design of the four models is the size. The Galaxy S10e has a 5.8-inch flat display screen, while the Galaxy S10 is little bigger with a 6.1-inch edge screen. The Galaxy S10+ is one of the heavier models with a curved screen size of 6.4 inches. The biggest of the lot is the S10 5G with a curved display screen size of 6.7 inches.

The phones are available in many colors that include prism white, black, blue, green, and flamingo pink. The Galaxy 10e is available in canary yellow as well. The Galaxy S10 5G model is available only in majestic black while the high-end S10+ models (512GB or 1TB) are available even in ceramic white and black.

    Notable features
One of the best features of the latest phones from the Galaxy S series is the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that is embedded right into the display. In the previous models, the scanner was at the back, which many users complained about. With the scanner on the front, it ensures the best level of security for the phones. Also, unlocking the phones becomes quite simple and hassle-free. The ultrasonic reader creates a 3D contour of the user’s finger, providing security and accuracy when compared to phones with optical sensors. With a touch, it is possible to not only unlock the phone but also drag and hold to open any app. This feature is, however, not available in the S10e model; it, instead, has the sensor in the power button on the side.

Also, the phones come with Bixby, Samsung’s virtual assistant. Through voice recognition, the Galaxy S10 phones can make calls or even send texts. An additional feature is Bixby Vision, a feature that lets you scan pictures, translates languages and scans QR codes with ease. Moreover, it uses AR to mix up the virtual and physical worlds.

    Power and battery
The Samsung S10, S10e, S10+, and S10 5G are equipped with an intelligent performance feature. This recognizes a person’s usage pattern and optimizes the phone based on that. The phones can predict future behavior and pre-load the apps that are frequently used. Also, the phones have an Adaptive Power Saving mode that adapts to the usage. This ensures a longer battery life. The Galaxy S10+ lasts for as long as 12 hours 35 minutes. Additionally, the phones come with PowerShare feature that lets users wirelessly charge other Galaxy S10 phones and Galaxy Buds.

    Pricing
The S10e with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at around $749 and the S10 costs around $899 for 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The price of an S10+ is around $999 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Additionally, the S10 5G is around $1299 for the 256GB model through Verizon; whereas, the 512GB model costs around $1400. These prices, however, may differ based on the location and carrier.
  • Credit unions that have the best 5-year CD rates in the market

Five-year certificates of deposit (CDs) will most often be the longest term of a CD offered by the banks. The banks will offer the highest possible rates, but this will only be in return for a long-term commitment on the part of the customer. A 5-year CD is popular as it allows the depositors to lock in a large sum of money at a high interest rate for a long period of time. 5-year CDs are preferred by depositors looking to gain a high yield and take advantage of the high interest rates. The interest rates, however, are still making their way to a higher amount after their significant drop due to the recession. Following are some of the institutions offering the best 5-year CD rates.

    CommunityWide Federal Credit Union
CommunityWide is one of the oldest credit unions, being established in 1967. The credit union held assets worth $410.9 million as of 31st December 2017. It has a large working team of around 77 full-time employees and hold leases and loans worth $362.6 million. They have 47,332 members that currently hold a massive $281.3 million in shares with the credit union. This credit union has had a good response from their customers and holds a good rating for the safety and soundness. A higher capital shows that the credit union can provide protection to their members in the unwarranted occurrence of a mishap. The institution has a high capital performance with a capitalization ratio of 24 percent.

    Mountain America Credit Union
Mountain America is an NCUA-insured credit union that has its inception in 1936 and is currently headquartered in West Jordan, UT. This credit union has a substantial $7.09 billion in assets as of 31st December 2017. They have a commendable group of 1,686 employees that ensure the smooth functioning for this credit union. It is one of the credit unions with the best 5-year CD rates due to its commendable grip on loans and leases worth $6.13 billion. Even if this credit union is higher on assets and loan and leases amount, it ranks behind Communitywide due to its slight drop in the capital. Mountain America has a slightly below average capital score and has a capitalization ration of only 10 percent. It is, however, high on safety and soundness as it holds an amazing asset quality score.

    Connexus Credit Union
Another NCUA-insured credit union, Connexus is based in Wausau, WI and was founded back in 1935. As of December 31st, 2017, the credit union had assets worth $1.69 billion. They are one of the top credit unions with the best 5-year CD rates and a strong team of 255 full-time employees. This credit union holds loans and leases worth $1.05 billion. Connexus currently has 305,795 members that account for $1.34 billion in shares. Similar to Mountain America, Connexus does not have a great capital score either. They have a score that allows them to be one of the best as they have an outstanding asset quality score. This commendable asset quality score allows them to be high on safety and soundness. The capitalization ratio is set at 12 percent, which is a lot better than most credit unions and complements the asset quality score well.

    United States Senate
Founded in 1935, United States Senate is an NCUA-insured credit union based in Alexandria, VA. They have assets worth $673.8 million as of 31st December 2017. A strong workforce of 106 full-time employees allows them to have a tight grip on loans and leases worth $516.2 million. They come in as a credit union with one of the best 5-year CD rates with around 34,809 members who hold $589.1 million shares with them. Even with comparatively lower assets, they still hold a very high asset quality score that allows them to be a credit union with one of the best 5-year CD rates. The capitalization score of 14 percent is not very far behind either. A strong asset quality score and a good capitalization score allow them to be high on safety and soundness.
