• Factors to consider while choosing a business internet plan

Today, all businesses, small or large, need a stable and fast internet connection. Whether it’s a simple job like sending emails or communicating with customers and clients globally, every business requires an internet connection for effective operations. However, with a plethora of internet providers and their offerings, it becomes quite difficult to pick the best plan. Hence, here are some factors that must be considered while choosing the best internet plan for your business.

Factors to consider when choosing the best internet plan for business

    Type of connections available
Usually, the type of connection available depends on the area the business is located in. This allows one to either choose between a range of internet connections or limit themselves to one or two options at best. Some of the most popular internet service provider (ISP) connections are:

Also known as a digital subscriber line, DSL is a broadband connection that employs phone lines to provide access to the internet. While this type of connection is quite budget-friendly, the internet speed provided can be quite slow. Furthermore, the distance between your business location and the ISP’s exchange can greatly affect the quality of the internet connection and its speed. In most cases, a DSL connection can prove functional for small-scale businesses and shops that have only a few employees.

Cable connections use special cables known as coaxial cable TV lines to connect the business to the internet. Generally, this internet connection type is faster when compared to DSL, but it can be expensive. Most cable connections offer speeds that can handle several people uploading and downloading large files at the same time. However, the speed received may depend on the distance between the business and the cable company’s office. This type of internet connection is usually opted for by medium-sized businesses.

An internet connection option that can be used by businesses located in remote or rural areas—satellite connections utilize satellites to transmit data from one point to another. While satellite connections can be expensive, they provide the same speed as a cable or fiber connection. Another downside of this type of connection is that they can be affected by weather and can become slow or inconsistent during extreme weather conditions. A satellite connection can prove useful for businesses that do not have any other viable option for an internet connection.

Fiber connections, better known as fiber optic connections, transmit data in the form of pulses of light through glass fibers without any electromagnetic interference. This makes fiber optics one of the fastest, most reliable, and most popular types of internet connection available in the market. Most good quality fiber optic connections can provide internet speeds up to 1000Mbps. With that being said, this type of internet connection is one of the most expensive options. Hence, they are considered best for businesses that require high bandwidth. So, if a business uses the internet for activities such as hosting servers, video conferencing, and video over internet protocol (VoIP), a fiber optic connection can be perfect to ensure global connectivity and reach.

    Internet speed needs
One must consider their needs when choosing an internet plan for a business. For instance, a small-scale business with less than 50 employees may need fast internet speeds for transferring large files or video conferencing. In addition to the above, if the business has multiple offices or sensitive customer information, it’s vital to have high-speed internet with sufficient bandwidth. Hence, it’s imperative to assess the needs of the business to avoid being stuck with low speeds or unnecessarily high prices. Thus, here are some examples of online activities and their required bandwidth.

File sharing: 2 to 5 Mbps per person
Video streaming: Standard definition video – 1.5 Mbps, High definition – 3 to 4 Mbps per person
Video conferencing: 2 to 4 Mbps per person

Typically, a newly launched small-scale business may feel comfortable with an internet speed ranging from 10 to 25 Mbps. However, an increase in operations and online activities may require a speed between 100 Mbps to even 1 Gigabit.

Further, one can assess the needed internet speed for their business by adding the bandwidth requirements of all their online activities and multiplying it by the number of employees or devices.

    Customer support
Good quality ISPs provide reliable customer support through detailed usage reports. This allows one to scale their required bandwidth as the needs of the business grow. Additionally, business internet plans with 24/7 customer support ensure minimum downtime and loss of money. Hence, while choosing internet plans, one must inquire about assistance, whether by phone or chat, and the availability of on-site technicians. This allows the business operations to run smoothly at all times.

    Cap on data
Depending on the internet plan chosen for the business, ISPs impose data restrictions on certain accounts. These limitations can either be in the form of a higher price or a throttle down on the bandwidth. While a cap on data is usually common in residential connections, they can be levied on cable, DSL, and even fiber optic business plans.

In addition to the above factors, one must also consider the contract length, availability of services, and the reputation of the ISP while choosing the best internet plan for their business.

  • Samsung Galaxy’s smartest line-up to date

Every year, Samsung launches new products during the annual Galaxy Unpacked event. This year was no different. The brand announced an upgrade to its flagship Galaxy and unveiled a brand-new addition to the Samsung Galaxy line, namely S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra, along with some other affordable range of phones and accessories.

    Galaxy S20 Series
The new Galaxy series comes with a handful of upgrades. These phones have upgraded batteries, better privacy protection, smarter AI-integrated camera functions, enhanced screen, and better gaming experience. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra especially has a smartly structured multi-lens camera that can provide a zoom of up to 100X. Some unique new features include the space zoom, 8K videos, anti-rolling stabilization, and the intriguing single-take mode. The single-take mode enables videos and pictures to be clicked and shot without you having to press down on the shutter button repeatedly.

The three new additions to the Galaxy line are aimed at providing users with better overall-smartphone experience along with 5G support. Yes, you read that right! These phones are 5G-enabled. This also gives Samsung a 7-month head start to Apple’s much-anticipated launch of 5G phones. The S20 phones will be officially available starting March 6 and are said to be ranged around $1,000 and above, depending on the model and specs.

    Galaxy Buds+
The quite predictably named Galaxy Buds+, Samsung’s wireless earbuds, were also unveiled at the said event. Boasting of a battery backup for a solid 11 hours, these are surely a leap in the right direction from their precursors, Gear Iconx. The plus side of these is that they are priced around $149 and are compatible even with iOS. For everyone avoiding the Airpods, pre-orders start February 14 and will be available in stores March 6 onwards.

    Z Flip

The event held at San Francisco also saw a glimpse of Samsung’s renewed attempt at bringing in flip-smartphones. After its unfortunate failed attempt with the Galaxy Fold, it is going to be interesting to see how Galaxy Z Flip unfolds. Costing about $1,380, it is $100 cheaper than its rival Motorola Razr. The folding mechanism on the Z Flip allows you to leave it halfway open which is an advantage for tripod-free time-lapse videos and hands-free video calls.

While the unpacked event has caused many to have some new phone goals, it still is a hefty price to pay. However, considering the features, we are quite excited to see how the users feel.

  • Everything about the latest Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra

Samsung officially launched new products during its Unpacked event that was held on February 11th, 2020 in San Francisco. The products unveiled in the event are their four new flagship smartphones, including the mammoth Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. Samsung also released new wireless earbuds that will now be competing against Apple’s Airpods. All phones from the Galaxy S20 series will be made available to the public starting from March 6, 2020.

With Ultra, you get a massive 6.9 inches Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. The display has a 120Hz refresh rate and Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels and 511ppi density. It also comes with a robust Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra stands out from the other phones because of the camera setup. It features a 108MP wide-angle primary camera with a 48MP Telephoto camera and a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens. The phone is capable of zooming up to 100x and can still manage to capture superb resolution images. All S20 devices can capture 8K videos at 24fps. The phone also comes with a 40-megapixel selfie camera with an F2.2 aperture lens.

The hardware is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset for the smooth functioning of the device. Its storage options include 128GB, 256GB with 12GB of RAM and 512GB with 16GB of RAM. One of the great things about Samsung’s latest S20 variants is they support the revolutionary 5G connectivity because of the high-tech Snapdragon 865 chipset.

The phone is powered by an enormous 5000mAh battery. Samsung has also improved its wireless charging speed with Fast Wireless Charging 2.0. The fast charging feature is compatible with both wired and wireless phones.

The starting price of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is $1,399, which makes it $299 more expensive than Apple’s latest iPhone 11 Pro.

Apart from the high-end Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, other S20 devices that launched in the Unpacked event are Samsung Galaxy S20 and Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus. Both the latter devices feature almost the same camera setup except the S20 Plus, which has an added DepthVision camera for portrait shots. • Entertainment: The best part about the S20 is its pro-grade camera, which has got Samsung and Netflix to collaborate and put out some bonus content for popular Netflix Originals. Also, S20 users can get access to Netflix content with improved Galaxy integration through Samsung Daily, Finder, and Bixby.

  • How to find street maps in the Look Around feature of Apple Maps

After a wait of almost 12 years, Apple Maps has launched its feature to find street maps. There are several attractions to talk about and the interface is clean, as you’d expect from any Apple product. For its Look Around feature, Apple Maps makes use of parallax to make sure that users get a 3D-like depth. The Look Around feature is extremely easy to use. This article talks about two primary ways in which the Look Around feature can be accessed on Apple Maps.

    Use with an address

Open Maps on your Apple device. Manually enter the name of the place or the address that you wish to look around in the bar at the bottom that reads, “Search for a place or addresses.” You’ll get a number of selections and you need to pick the correct address out of these. The location’s map will open and then you can choose either of two options.

There’ll be a binocular icon on the top right corner if you wish to continue with a look around in a minimized way. If the app has the location’s data for Look Around, a Look Around pop-up will be available. To see the image in full screen, there are two arrows towards the top left side of the screen. To exit, you can simply press Done.

The other option is if you’d like to watch on full-screen mode immediately. Look Around preview is available below the address. If you press on the preview image, the image opens in full-screen mode. You can press Done or minimize once you’re finished viewing in full-screen mode.

    Use without an address

You can simply drop the dropper of Apple Maps at a location to look around even if you do not know the address of a location. This, however, will only work when Look Around will be available in that particular area. More often than not, you must zoom in very deep for Apple to identify the location. If you’re not zoomed in enough, the binoculars option will not show up.

This is how you do it. Open Maps and go to a specific location. Keep zooming in till you find the icon of binoculars on the top right corner. A specific spot will be chosen by Google somewhere in the area selected by you. The preview of Look Around will then take you around the place, and you can then view different areas.

  • 9 effective ways to prevent cyber attacks

One of the fastest-growing crimes in the world today is cyber crimes. It allows hackers to gain access to information that is not for public use. Hackers use this information to leave the person vulnerable. This also means that the person or company whose data has been breached has its name plastered all over the news. To avoid this, you want to ensure that all your data has been locked tight with the help of antivirus software, endpoint security, and antimalware measures.

    Stick to trusted programs
Modern attacks won’t be easily preventable if you rely on free antivirus software to help you with them. It is important that you rely on a trusted provider for a paid, reliable antivirus software package. And if that does not fit your budget, you can look into free versions provided by well-known providers to add security to your company’s data. Antivirus software can be deployed and managed on all of the company’s endpoint devices for optimum security. SentinelOne is one of the most trusted names when it comes to software that provides you with endpoint security and various other products and services. All of which are aimed at protecting you against cyber threats. Platforms that provide endpoint protection use AI-powered attack detection systems, investigation capabilities, triage, and work on a range of operating systems. SentinelOne®’s Singularity™ platform allows you to submit relevant data and further discuss the plan details that would best suit your business’ endpoint security needs.

    HTTPS for the win
An SSL certificate is an absolute must-have if you or your business handles customer data through the company website. This will be responsible for the upgradation of your domain to HTTPS and assuring the customers that their customer to your company is secure. The SSL certification is also a surety for the customers that all the data they share is encrypted before making it out of their device. It is an assurance that the shared data is not easily accessible to hackers and is secure from cyber-attacks.

    Employee training
It might come across as surprising, but most cyber attacks are partly attributed to human error. It is vital to train employees and make them aware of the right practices for internet usage. Retraining programs are also crucial to ensure your employees do not slip up during working on some projects. This also helps them to be aware of the newer practices to follow. Things to include in the training modules include recognizing fraudulent emails, potential malware links in any form of online communication, the importance of locking computers when stepping away, strong passwords, and multi-factor authentication.

    Hire IT professionals
Hiring IT personnel is going to be one of the most gratifying things you can do to prevent cyber attacks. And if you do not have the kind of budget to hire a full-time in-house professional, consider getting in touch with a managed service provider. They can look into your processes and systems and then suggest areas of improvement to strengthen your company’s security further. Plus, they are more aware of the current digital threat trends and similar vulnerabilities and will likely be able to help you with some actionable advice.

    Turn on multi-factor authentication
Almost every platform today offers you access to multi-factor authentication to provide you with that added layer of security. It’s another necessary layer that waits for your identification, making sure you are accessing the data. It prevents your account from being used by an unauthorized person and leaves you susceptible to cyber-attack. Whenever you can, make sure you are turning on the multi-factor authentication option for all possible sites.

    Avoid public networks
When you are using public networks, keep in mind that you are sharing the network space with everyone else connected. Any information you access, receive or send is accessible to anyone on the network. Being connected to a public network leaves you vulnerable, as anyone can access your information. If you have no choice but to use a public network, try using a VPN to add security to your data. Also, remember that there is no such thing as “secure enough.” As long as you are an internet user, you are vulnerable to cyber-attacks. There is a reason why even the biggest companies in the world invest in cyber security and have teams actively protecting your data.

    Back up data
Security breaches can often end up costing you essential data. Make a habit of periodically backing up your data onto a local storage device or on the cloud. This will ensure that all your hard work is available to restore if you lose it off your computer.

    Find a White collar hacker
It is important everyone comprehends and accepts the fact that not all hackers are bad guys that loot your life’s savings. Some even do it to help you identify security risks in your system and expose the possibility of a cyber-attack. These White hat hackers go as far as to help you patch up these security flaws.

Use secure file-sharing options
If your work involves regularly sharing sensitive or confidential information, consider using a secure file-share platform. Regular emails aren’t secure enough to be sharing confidential documents. If intercepted, emails can let the wrong people easily access the information you want to keep secure. The platform will also automatically encrypt your files, making it difficult for unauthorized people to read them.

  • Tips to select the best medicare plans

In 2015, an individual had the choice of about 30 Medicare plans with a wide array of benefits and premiums. Today, a total of 1001 Medicare plans are available all over the nation.

Individuals must regularly review their options for Medicare plans. You may be happy with your present cover, but you should compare it to ensure that you are getting the most financially effective plan. You should not trust that the plan that worked for you two years back will be suitable for your changing needs. If you do so, it is possible that you might miss the opportunity to get better benefits at lower price.

How to Choose One of The Top 5 Medicare Plans
The enrollment period for joining any of the Medicare Part D plans starts in December. You should note this, as if you miss the deadline, you will be subject to payment of a late enrollment fee. Here are a few steps to follow when changing your plan.

Create a List: Prepare a list of all the medications that you currently consume, along with the dosage. This vital information will assist you to compare plans. Also, ask your doctor how long the present dosage and type of drugs will be needed. Your circumstances may change in future, or there could be a generic substitute which may save you a lot of money.

Compare Different Medicare Plans: There are various Medicare plans which can be easily compared using online tools. These tools have been developed to allow you to compare medications, premiums, deductibles, and other features.

Check Medications Are Covered: Most people pay attention to the monthly premiums amount. However, the most significant thing to look for is if your medications are included in the drug formulary. Be watchful of the quantity limits, prior authorizations and other restrictions.

Step Therapy: There is a limitation called step therapy. This is where you have to temporarily substitute one drug for another. This can be difficult for an older individual who has become acclimatized to specific medications. If possible, you must try to avoid the Medicare plans which impose step therapy on the drugs you use.

Take a Look at The Costs: You must consider the overall cost of the Medicare plans. This should include the amount you pay every month and the amount you will have to pay for the coverage. You should also take note of any out-of-pocket expenses such as coinsurance or co-payment amounts.

Make a Decision: Sometimes, the lowest premium is the most important factor you should look at. But with the raft of plans available, you should note that you may be able to pay a little extra for huge benefits. Follow the steps above to judge the best options for you, and select the one that meets your needs best.

  • Swollen Legs – Causes and Remedies

Swelling in the legs is often an indication of an underlying health condition. It can occur in any part of the leg, from toes to thighs. Fluid retention or build up is the main reason for swollen legs. The actual cause of leg swelling varies widely from injury to heart disease to kidney disease to prolonged sitting or standing.

Swelling in feet is medically referred to as peripheral edema. Unless caused by an injury, swollen feet are not painful. Fluid accumulation usually occurs in the lower parts of the body due to gravitational force. Frequent or continuous swelling of feet should be reported to a medical practitioner and the cause of leg swelling must be identified immediately.

    • Broken ankle or foot
    • Osteoarthritis

  • 5 drinks that diabetics should avoid

It is important that people with diabetes keep a strict watch on their diet. Since several foods and drinks contain carbs, sugars, and artificially sweetened agents, people with diabetes must exercise caution before choosing foods rich in artificial or added sugar. It is, therefore, important that the drinks for diabetics exclude sugary drinks that can raise the blood sugar levels and spike up the daily calorie intake. Here is a list of harmful drinks for diabetics that they must certainly avoid.

    Regular soda
The American Diabetes Association ranks soda as one of the most harmful drinks for diabetes that should strictly be avoided. A single can of soda contains about 40gms of carbs and a whooping 150gms of calories. The sugary soda drinks also account for rapid weight gain, tooth decay, and high blood sugar levels. A good swap for soda can be fruit infused water or unsweetened herbal teas.

    Energy drinks
While all energy drinks may claim to spike up your energy levels, it is important that to note that they are also full of caffeine and carbs. Many studies prove energy drinks to be a great cause of increasing your blood sugar and causing insulin resistance. People who do not have diabetes may also fall at a higher risk of getting type 2 diabetes.

    Sweetened fruit juices
While having fruit juices in moderation may not be so harmful, it certainly falls into the category of drinks for diabetics that is when best avoided.
