6 Alzheimer’s symptoms you should be aware of

Imagine if you couldn’t remember how to get home from the supermarket or if you couldn’t recall your best friend’s name. Frustrating isn’t it? Memory loss is a characteristic early symptom of Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s is the most common mental disorder to affect people. Though there is no cure for Alzheimer’s disease as yet, an early diagnosis can help doctors slow the progression of the disease and improve the patient’s quality of life. Alzheimer’s symptoms progress slowly and people in the late stages of this disease cannot look after themselves. Some of the Alzheimer’s symptoms other than memory loss to look out for are:

• Difficulty Focusing: Alzheimer’s can make simple tasks like following a recipe difficult. People may also face difficulties working with number of creating a plan. Things that took just a few minutes to do earlier may start taking longer because the person cannot focus on what he is doing. This may also make a person ramble without realizing or stop mid-sentence.

• Confusion with Times and Places: People suffering from this condition may have trouble understanding an event if it is not happening at that moment or if they are not a part of it. They may also often get confused with dates, months and seasons. Forgetting how they got somewhere is another characteristic Alzheimer’s symptom.

• Trouble with Spatial Relationships: Alzheimer’s patients can have difficulties distinguishing between colors and while judging distances. This can make them feel lost in places that they have been to before.

• Poor Judgment: An Alzheimer’s patient may begin to show poor judgment in his or her decisions regarding money and lifestyle. Failing to groom themselves and keep themselves clean is one such example. They may also make reckless decisions when dealing with money such as give away large sums of money to anyone who asks for it.

• Mood Swings: People suffering from this condition may often become disoriented and upset when there are not in their comfort zone. This can make them confused, anxious and suspicious of people even though they may know them.

• Frustration: Coordination problems and not being able to do things can make an Alzheimer’s patient extremely frustrated. In some cases, they may even be able to recognize the loss of control over their body which is cause for even more frustration.

Given how memory loss is often also associated with other aging related issues, it is important to be able to distinguish between normal memory loss caused by advancement in age and memory loss caused by Alzheimer’s. Forgetting appointments once in a while or forgetting the date is okay as long as you can remember them later. Normal memory loss may also make you forget certain words once in a while or make you misplace things. However, if you constantly call people by wrong names or find yourself frequently accusing people of stealing from you when you can’t find something you put away, it is time to get yourself tested.

  • Here’s what you need to know about double vision

Double vision is a condition that can occur due to problems associated with eye muscles. The condition can cause a person to view two separate images of a single object. Double vision is of two types. Monocular diplopia is the name for the condition when it occurs in one eye, and double binocular vision is when it takes place in both the eyes. The treatment for double vision depends on its type and causes.

There are many causes of double vision, and these may depend on the type of double vision that you may have. While monocular double vision is rare, the causes of double vision of this kind may be due to astigmatism or cataract. Astigmatism is a reflective error that is caused due to an irregularly shaped cornea. Other causes of monocular double vision include dry eye (a condition when you cannot produce enough tears), abnormalities associated with the cornea, issues of the lens like cataracts, abnormalities of the retina that may cause muscular degeneration, and the like. The effects of monocular double vision are not felt when you shut the affected eye.

When both the eyes fail to reflect images correctly, the condition is called double binocular vision that makes your brain to create double images in both the eyes. In some cases, the causes of double vision could stem out of realigning squint eyes. Recurring squint in the childhood can be a common cause of double vision in both the eyes. However, if double vision in adults occurs suddenly, it may be due to any of the conditions listed below.

    • When the thyroid muscle that produces thyroxine affects the free movement of the external eye muscles, you may experience double vision.
    • One of the causes of double vision can also stem from a condition that affects the blood vessels supplying blood to the brain. A stroke or a transient ischaemic attack may also be one of the causes.
    • When a severe case of diabetes damages the blood vessels from supplying blood to the nerves of the eye muscles, it may lead to double vision.
    • When eye muscles become weak due to conditions like myasthenia gravis, people may experience double vision.
    • Multiple sclerosis may affect the nerves of the eye muscles and cause double vision.
    • An aneurysm is a condition that is characterized by a bulge in the blood vessel as a result of weak blood vessel wall. This condition may further press on the nerve of the eye muscle causing double vision.
    • Other causes of double vision may include a brain tumor, cancer behind the eye, head injury, and the like.
  • Answering some questions on equity loans and business loans

What is the difference between an equity home loan and an equity business loan?

Any equity loan is secured by assets that are owned by you. An equity home loan uses as equity that value of the property that is wholly owned by you to secure the loan. In the case of an equity business slogan, assets that have been acquired by the business for its functioning may be used as equity.

Why do equity loans come with lower rates of interest?

Equity loans are loans or a line of credit that is offered using your property as collateral security. Since such a loan is fully secured, it proves to be less risky for the lender. It is for this reason that banks and other financial companies can offer equity home and business loans for better loan tenure and at the lower rate of interest.

What kind of questions will a lender ask?

This depends on the lender, but according to the SBA, there are in fact some standard questions that one should be prepared for:

    • The reasons for applying for a business loan?
    • Which department or area of interest would the loan proceeds be applied on?
    • Nature of capital expenses – buying assets or incurring substantial costs should be disclosed along with the supplier details
    • What other debts relating to business does the business have and who are the creditors?
    • A detailed profile of the Management personnel (team).

What kind of questions should the business be prepared for, when they meet the potential lender?

    • The requirements of the potential lender must be asked in detail – especially the aspects relating to paper work. It is quite known that paper work takes away most of the time and it would be prudent to equip the business with it.
    • Will the potential lender be prepared to address the business needs? Do they believe in the business
    • How flexible are they regarding offering certain leverage on repayment terms, interest rates, prepayment penalty, etc.,
    • The terms of the business loan by itself should be as clear as water with no ambiguities. Risks associated with the business loan should also be studied in detail.
  • Introduction to paint recycling centers

Most of us can’t resist from decorating the walls of our house with diverse shades of colors. Painting our homes is one of the most important aspects of the life of one’s home.

Even if we resist ourselves with minimal shades of color scheme, there will always be something that will be left over. Also, preserving them is not recommended at all because not only might it get dry but the fumes also aren’t good for one’s health. The only way to deal with the leftover paint or unused paints is by recycling them at the paint recycling centers. They are entitled to take back the leftovers and recycle it for the benefit of the users and the environment. Listed below are some of the paint recycling centers:
